Onion Lanterns are a fixture here on Cape Cod. You can drive more that a mile or two without seeing an Onion Light Lantern. These handcrafted onion lights are made from either solid brass or solid copper much the same way these onion lanterns were fabricated over 100 years ago. The Onion Lantern (called such because it is shaped like an onion) is adapted from lights that were once on whaling ships. The round shape shed water and reflected light while protecting the flame from the wind and the elements.
