The New England Patriots defeated the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 in the AFC Championship game and will head to Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis on February 5, 2012.
Tom Brady has the New England Patriots back in the Super Bowl.
The
Patriots beat the stunned Ravens 23-20 in the AFC championship game Sunday after Baltimore's Billy Cundiff missed a 32-yard field goal attempt with 11 seconds remaining that would have tied the score.
Brady scored the winning touchdown when he leaped over the vaunted Ravens defense in the fourth quarter.
His 1-yard dive brought the Patriots (15-3) from behind, and the maligned New England defense made several key plays, including shutting down Ray Rice, the league's total yardage leader.
Brady guided the Patriots to their fifth AFC championship in 11 seasons. Next up as the Patriots chase their fourth Super Bowl trophy in Brady and coach Bill Belichick's tenure in New England is the winner of Sunday's late game for the NFC championship between the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers. The Super Bowl is Feb. 5 in Indianapolis.

ABC News recently launched a series, Made in America, in which they attempted to completely outfit a house in which all the products were made in America. The premise of the series will be to answer the following questions, according to the show’s website: ‘Is buying American-made more expensive? What staples are no longer manufactured in the U.S. at all? And what difference would it make if everyone promised to buy more American-made products?’ As part of this launch, the network unveiled its “Made in America Challenge,” looking for essays, photos and videos detailing American products individuals have bought, and how they have adapted their lifestyle to buy more American goods.
Its a great challenge and the impact on this country could be huge if enough people jumped on the bandwagon. Buying American when possible is a big step toward reviving our manufacturing in this country and stopping its downward spiral. Manufacturing provides quality jobs, and helps to spur other job sectors.
As a result, we have had many inquiries on products that were made in USA. We are proud to say that we support the Made in US movement and many of out products are americam made. I will out line these products in a future post.

One of the more common comments I hear from people is that a weathervane wont work on my house. We'll its not true. With our hanging weathervanes, you can hang a selection of weathervane figures from a ceiling, porch, wall, etc. They look great on an exterior wall and will often serve as a secondary sign. I have seen many fish and seafood stores with the hanging lobster weathervane.

When doing a quick online search for "how a sundial works", we see pages and pages of resources explaining how the sun casts its shadow on a gnomon and a dial that are strategically positioned (towards true celestial north) on earth to tell approximate time. But really, we don't need sundials to tell time anymore.
Why, then, are sundials still as common as they are? Unlike other ancient tools (such as the abacus) that have been replaced by improved technological models, sundials are still found in their original settings -- in gardens, on pedestals, in the center of courtyards... They must serve some function in order to have reserved such prominent spots in our lives. YES, they do!
What we do need sundials for is to add sophistication to our outside spaces. We need them to inspire a sense of perspective as we go about our modern and chaotic lives.
Think of the last time you spent time looking at a sundial. Think of what was around you. What did you think about? I can almost guarantee that you didn't contemplate the busy day you had planned, or remember everything that you had to do before a big meeting.
We need sundials to serve as conversation pieces, as combo bird baths, and as thoughtful and unique gifts for friends and family members. These are the new functions of a sundial. If they happen to also tell you whether it's 10 AM or 2 PM, that is an added bonus. (But if you don't already know the difference between 10 and 2, it's probably intentional on your part, and bravo to you!)
We've recently added new sundials to our store, you can view the entire category here, or check out the unique favorites that we've posted below. If you haven't spent time pondering life while gazing at a sundial lately, we invite you to try one out. Enjoy!

The nautical theme weather vanes are inspired by the sea. They are in the shape of a fish, a boat, a mermaid or other sea animals. We have the greatest collection of weathervanes based on the sea animals. Nautical theme weathervanes are great for decorating a nautical themed room. However these Weathervanes are available as garden accessories as well and are making a style statement in the porches and patio too. You can look for our hanging whale weathervanes which are hung from the ceiling and perfect for your porch, game room or patio or you can checkout our desktop weathervanes in the nautical theme.
Weathervanes have been known for their use in decorating homes and offices since the ancient times. Weathervanes are an instrument and they show the direction of wind. Even if they are not functional or partly functional, they still retain an old world charm, which speaks volumes about their presence in history. Today they find their place in interior decoration of homes and offices and a lot of effort goes in their architectural detailing. The presence of a brass or silver nautical theme weathervane can go a long way in beautifying personal spaces. The Cape Cod Weathervane Company deals in handcrafted weathervanes, created by master artisans and our weathervanes are essentially made of solid copper and brass with remarkable attention to detail.

Summer may be unofficially over (see the above photo of the crowded de-boarding platform of the Nantucket Ferry in Hyannis!) but there is still plenty of outside weather left in the season. We've just added some new sundials (click here) that will instill a sense of nostalgia as you sit and watch the time pass in the cooler autumn air. And have you seen our new Rain Chains (click here)? These make absolutely beautiful sounds as rain water trickles through them. No longer will you curse the rain! Free Shipping on most orders!
If you have a Sundial or Rain Chain installed on your property, we'd love to see photos! With your permission we'll post them here so you can show off to more than just your neighborhood.

Due to Hurricane Irene - our phone lines are now working. You will be able to call in and leave a message, but you will not be able to talk with a live person until Comcast restores the service. We do not anticipate a very long outage, as damage was not that severe. Nevertheless, there are many areas of the cape still withoout power and/ or phone/cable. Please bear with us..... we hope to be up and running as soon as possible.

The Do-Over Plan

The economy was a mess when Obama got elected. He’s been busy trying to keep everything afloat. Some stuff was worked, some hasn’t. … Quite Frankly it wasn’t that great under Bush. Remember his grand plan to stimulate the economy by giving every tax payer $ 300. Really.. things haven’t been too good since the Clinton days. Now Congress is considering another stimulus program, all while trying to avoid a major mess by extending the debt ceiling. Party politics have come into play and there has been a huge disregard for the average joe and what the American taxpayer is going through.
I’m not a politician, I’m not an economist, just one of those average Joe’s who is getting tired of treading water. Tired of the bickering, tired of the large companies getting handouts, tired of the cynicism and greed in Washington and large business in general. So I have come up with a plan. I call it the do-over plan. Here is how it goes:
As of now, all your debt have been forgiven. You don’t owe anybody anything. As far as if anyone owes you money… you can kiss that goodbye as well. No account payables, no account receivables. My guess is 95% of the people will make out in this move. This also goes for back taxes, credit cards, car loans etc. If you have a home or real estate loan, it will be adjusted to a 2% rate payable in a 20 year term. The government will issue everyone a check for $ 5,000.00. You must spend half of it within 14 days.
Senators, congressmen and other politicians must spend 10% of their elected time doing basic blue-collar jobs on government properties so they can re-connect with their constituents. This will include such jobs as sweeping the halls of congress, mowing the Whitehouse lawn, painting bridges, and picking up poop @ the National Zoo.
We will do a national lottery to help pay down the debt. Also make online gambling legal with the Government getting 10% off the top.
I willing to bet… if we implement these steps.. the economy will come roaring back.
That’s the basics… I’m sure there’s more we can add… Let me know what other components we should add to help get America moving again.

A common theme of all of our products is Copper. Comer weathervanes, Cupolas with copper roofs. copper wind spinners, copper lanterns etc.
For those who love copper as much as we do, you may be interested in a local Cape artist, Rick Fleury. Rick is unique in that he uses copper as his canvas. Painting over the copper, yet still leaving some copper exposed as part of the scene. While copper is one of the oldest materials know to man, this technique is rare and not many people have used copper as a medium for fine art.
Rick's work and be viewed online or at Addison Gallery in Orleans
